Pellets Test Station

The Pellets Test Station (PTS) was designed to perform automatically the functions of sampling from the belt conveyor; transportation to the compression machine feeder; determination of Cold Compression Strength (CCS); measurement of each pellet diameter; and sample preparation for chemical analysis.

The PTS is operated from the control room and the technician can request statistical results, the status of the system and can modify any of its main operating parameters any time he wants. It allows to keep the optimum firing process condition of the furnace, taking advantages in energy consumption and quality of the product.

The PTS is installed on the belt conveyor of the final product and comprises:

- a sampling device;
- a bucket elevator;
- a rotating sample divider;
- a compression strength machine;
- a device to measure the pellet diameter;
- a device to prepare samples for chemical analysis; and
- a device to discharge off samples to the belt conveyor.
